A guide to Ontario winter in Collingwood
A guide to outdoor activities, Canadian restaurants, and Nordic spa days.
Collingwood is just two hours north of Toronto, Ontario and is home to some of the best downhill skiing the province (an important distinction) has to offer, which is why this itinerary focuses on the winter months despite it being a year-round destination.
The town’s popularity exploded during the pandemic as Toronto residents looked to escape the city, but it’s still relatively unknown to people outside of the province. In Collingwood, you’ll find winter activities, unique shops, and impressive local fare.
DAY ONE
Collingwood is perhaps best known for its proximity to Blue Mountain Ski Resort, which itself is built for tourism and offers several options for hotels (although at a slight premium) within The Blue Mountain Village, located at the foot of the ski hill.
This itinerary assumes you’ve chosen to stay a ten minute drive away in Collingwood, where you can escape the crowds, eat better food, and get more value from your stay. I’ll link guides for Blue Mountain and the neighbouring town of Thornbury here soon.
